Texas dental CE requirements
Renewal cycle: 2 years. Requirements below are per cycle.
Dentist
Verified against an official source24 hours per 2-year renewal cycle
- At least 16 of the 24 hours must be technical/scientific content directly related to clinical care.
- Up to 8 hours may be self-study.
- A Board-approved Human Trafficking Prevention course is required as part of the 24 hours.
- 4 hours on safe opioid/controlled-substance prescribing are required every renewal for licensees with direct patient care; DEA permit holders need 2 additional hours on monitoring controlled substances.
- A separate jurisprudence assessment is required every 4 years and does not count toward the 24-hour total.
