What's in this database
Every record here traces back to a National Provider Identifier (NPI) — a unique 10-digit federal identifier assigned by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to every U.S. healthcare provider, including dentists. Name, credential, specialty taxonomy, and practice address all come directly from the government's registry, so results aren't scraped from other websites or self-submitted without a check against the federal record.
How to search it
Use the search bar to look up a dentist by last name, city, state, ZIP code, or specialty. If you already have the dentist's 10-digit NPI number — from an insurance card, referral, or prior paperwork — searching by name and confirming the NPI on the result is the fastest way to make sure you've found the right person, especially for common names.
NPI database vs. state license
An NPI confirms federal registration and specialty — it does not confirm the dentist currently holds an active state license.
